製作華興小學自己的教材
經過了幾個月的努力，我們的「華興英語教室」終於誕生了。原本學校為了增進學生的英語程度，每天早自習時播放坊間英語雜誌社錄製的英語教學課程，如今終於有了屬於華興小學自己製作的教材。
播放我們的錄音
有一天早上，學校的廣播器播放著我們的節目，我們的聲音，悠揚的在學校裡迴盪，在教室裏寫早自習功課的我們，心裡雀躍不已，回想之前的努力，總算沒有白費了。這時的我們，比誰都高興，比誰都驕傲，因為我們扮演了之前由其他專業主持人的角色，親自主持一個節目，雖然只是短短的幾分鐘錄音，但背後的心血，是他人無法想像，從最早的劇本編寫到英文翻譯，從錄音演練到最後在學校及網路上播放，這一切都是老師及所有的組員辛苦付出得來。
隨著節目的播放，同學的反應逐漸熱烈，課餘時大家七嘴八舌的討論節目的內容，無形中達到了學習英語的效果，從此學習英文不再單調乏味，不再是件苦差事。希望以後能繼續錄製相關的節目，運用學校及校外各種資源，製作更多英語輔助教材，幫助大家學習英語，相信學習效果將會加倍、學習過程也會更加有趣。 |

What a relief!
What’s the matter?
I was so nervous about visiting teacher Doris.
So was I. At home yesterday, I practiced the questions that I wanted to ask teacher Doris many times.
I didn’t expect that the visit would go so well. But it was amazing !
Me either. I thought teacher Doris would be very serious, but actually she was very kind.
I agree. She doesn’t seem like she’s 82 years old .
She is full of energy.
Do you remember? She said she has several kinds of hobbies, which make her life full of fun.
She also told us to “Never give up”.
This idea helps her to conquer all the difficulties in her life.
Yeah. And I remember she also praised Taiwanese students for studying so hard to learn English.
That’s why she published Studio Classroom magazine in 1962 to help Taiwanese students learn English well. She had dedicated all of her life to the Taiwanese people.
She established a scholarship too. It has helped more than 3200 students. It has also encouraged the students to continue learning English.
By the way, not only does teacher Doris teach English, but she is also very talented. She can sing, play the trumpet and speak many different languages.
She even sang a Taiwanese aboriginal song for us. It sounded so beautiful. She said that singing is a good way to learn a language.
Yes I know. I have been listening to “Studio Classroom” for three years. I felt excited to have the chance to meet teacher Doris. Did you all have the same feeling?
Of course. And I am so surprised that this magazine is now being published in many countries to help people learn English.
The places we visited yesterday were so amazing too. We visited the recording studio, the film studio and the editing room.
The most exciting part was when I saw my idol, Black Pearl. I love her songs. I was so happy to take pictures with her.
Do you remember how we also visited the Cyber Village website? Teacher Doris always stays in touch with new things. We experienced the new product-Cyber Village. It makes learning English fun through the use of a computer.
It sounds very appealing.
Cyber Village saves paper. It’s good for the environment too.
It’s really amazing to play online games and learn English at the same time.
The best part is you can choose the role you like. It makes you feel as if you are the director.
Wasn’t it a fruitful journey?
We were so lucky to get the chance to visit teacher Doris and her team. Learning English can be fun ------ Yeah! |
