Taipei Municipal
Xi-Hu Elementary School |
The
Taiwanese Opera Club of Xi-Hu Elementary School was founded
in 1997, with the generous assistance of Ming-HwaYuan Taiwanese
Opera Company, the club flourished immensely. On many occasions
the club was invited to perform in public and was well received
in general, hence becoming one of the special aspects of the
school.
To promote our school-oriented curriculum, we have included
this performing art in our Art and Humanity area. Through
the Resident Artist Project, we tried to incorporate Art and
Humanity to areas such as Language, Health & PE, and Synchronized
Activities etc. to evolve into one of our special curriculum.
Through the promotion of the activities, we hope the followings
can be achieved:
1. inheriting and exalt the beauty of traditional arts
2. incorporating art with class and daily life to elevate
the appreciation of arts for the community and school
3. enhancing the habit of including artistic appreciation
in leisure recreation, advocating the idea of healthy recreation

About The Xi-Hu Red Kids |
After
series of teaching activities, both teachers and students
responded ardently. From knowing nothing about Taiwanese opera
to forming basic ideas about it, the interests of students
were greatly aroused. On the other hand, teachers were able
to elevate their capability in designing and teaching performing
art lessons.
The full support and assistance
of Ming-Hwa Yuan on our designing the lessons and the execution
of the activities are most precious in all. They not only
supply us with the exquisite costumes and props for our lessons;
Ms. Sun, Tsui-Feng also attended every activity, sharing with
us her experiences and demonstrating for us the elaborate
acting and singings of Taiwanese Opera. Her presence was a
great attraction and encouragement to students and also would
certainly have critical influence on the success of infusing
art into daily life.
Through participating in the activities, the members of Art
and Humanity Team were able to form mutual consensuses on
lesson planning. Most importantly, we were able to effectuate
the ideal of living the art in real life, and build a solid
foundation for developing our special curriculum and our Taiwanese
Opera Club.
With this special curriculum as the incentive, Xi-Hu Red Kids
takes its form. We hope, with this project, we could promote
this special theatrical art to every corner of the country
to elevate the artistic standard of the audiences.
