In the beginning, Japanese sent their troops to Taiwan. Later on, other officials came to Taiwan to pass on their ruling and colonizing policies. Some of them had already got in touch with baseball when they were in Japan, so baseball became their recreational activity after work. Baseball was developed vigorously during the first years of the 20th century; the first formal team was formed by the principal of Taiwan governor prefecture high school, Keichi Tanaka in 1906.
