Fidel Castro, the Cuban leader, was a baseball player, therefore was very enthusiastic in promoting baseball. That is the reason Cuba is so famous for its baseball. There is a description about Cuba “ Cuba has azure sky, blue ocean, beautiful woman, cigar, sugar cane wine and baseball” which demonstrated that baseball is not just a national sport but a religion in Cuba. Just like Cuba, Taiwanese could only play baseball in the rice paddy, on the street, or before the temple during Japanese Occupation. What is the charm of baseball that bewitched so many people in so many places?

From part one, our instructors led us from Cricket of England to baseball of the world. While we were doing our research, we found that baseball is played all over the five continents, and that baseball was included in the official sport event of Olympics from 1992. After we are acquainted with the history of baseball in Taiwan, we will devote the next part to learn some of the basic elements of baseball.
