Mr. KCH

  Mr. Hsieh Kuo-Cherng, also named Wan-Li (ten thousand miles in mandarin), was born on February 20th of 1912 in Shiuejia town of Tainan county. He moved to Tokyo Japan with his family when he was eight.
   Mr. Hsieh was graduated from the department of political science and economics in Waseda University, and moved back to Taiwan in 1946. Then he worked for Taiwan Cooperative Bank for many years.

The Relationship Between KCH and Japan

  Mr. KCH lived in Japan since he was little, he was the soccer team player in hgh school. He entered University Waseda and was deeply influenced by Japanese. Yet, he detested the japanese Occupation and had joined various Taiwanese Nationalist activities.
  Mr. KCH had acquainted with many anti-Japanese nationalists, and had participated in the petition for a Taiwanese Congress. He was employed as a free lance reporter for Taiwan Shin-Ming News while he was still studying in Waseda University. With the pen name of "Long Miles" , he wrote many political commetaries in a column.

  The Waseda University was the foundation of Japanese modern sports, and it was also a school famous for its baseball team. Mr. Hsieh was affected by the university very much. The baseball team under the Taiwan Cooperative Bank was also extremely prestigious, too. Maybe we could say that the relations between Mr. Hsieh and baseball had deeply influenced by his old days in Waseda and the experiences in Taiwan Cooperative Bank.

  After Mr. KCH returned to Taiwan in 1946, he actively took part in starting the Yen-Ping College with Mr. Chu Chou Yang. During the 228 Incident, he was arrested for 3 days.
  The night he was took away in a jeep, Mr. KCH's dream for polics and school ended.After he was released, he never spoke about politics again. When he was seving in Legislature Yuan, he only cared about economy and sports.The effect of the arrest was tremendous in his life after 1969.
