1.How does join in Heavenly Melody influence your life?
I feel the biggest achievement I got is to be able to express my life experience through music on stage. Therefore, I felt I am the same person on the stage or off the stage. I would not become a different person on stage. It is very good for me because I can share my life experience by music. Because of that, my songs also become the way I look back on myself and makes me often reflect whether I am singing with my true heart or not. I was a very muddle-headed person, and God let me learn more through Heavenly Melody and understand that the power will be greater if we cooperate with each other and become a team. I think God wants me to travel and learn in different place by letting me joining Heavenly Melody.
2.Will you welcome people from all over the world to join Heavenly Melody?
Captain Hsieh is just the example! He is a Chinese from Brazil. However, it is not okay if a foreigner cannot speak Chinese because the audience of our missionary work is focused on Chinese, so we have to use Chinese. Yet there are some cross-cultural activities we are doing as well. For example, if we went to Norway, we have to learn Norwegian and local ballads. If we performed in Brazil, we have to use Portuguese. We try to do things right whether performing for Chinese or abroad.
3.Whatˇ¦s the qualification to join Heavenly Melody? Whatˇ¦s its situation right now?
The members should be capable of doing harmonic singing and know some basic music theories. His or her voice cannot be too outstanding to sing chorus with others, and understanding how to read music notations. And the members should believe in God and be willing to serve God with music. Last but not least, one has to be part of a team and be a good team member. We go abroad seven to eight times per year and the journey could last two or three months. We used to go out more often before. The number of team member was only 4 at one time, but the usual number is 8. We even have 12 at most. Everyone works full time and our major job is related to music such as composing or producing.
4.Is there anything interesting when you were with Dr. Brougham?
She was very shy originally. But after some adjustment, she realizes that many people could learn a lot from her experiences in life, so she made herself giving speeches in public. She is both shy and bold at the same time. Those qualities are quite conflicting. God gave her a simple faith, and made her decide to spread Gospel in China. She created many things and institutions which are above what can not be done by a shy person. Besides, she is a very peracute person, too. Once when I was driving with her, I was asked to drive faster and faster! When she had any new ideas she would call people immediately, forgetting it might be bedtime for most people.
5.Can Catholics join ORTV?
Yes, as long as people believe in God has sent his son, Jesus, to the world of mortals to renew our lives are welcome to join us. We do not have any Catholics yet, but Buddhists or people believing in other religions would not be encouraged. |
