In 1966, under the rule of no baseball on campus, the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association set up a research and design team, and one member in the competition team, Zhung Yang-Wen, drew up some equipment for elementary school students. Then the Tee Ball was brought to live.
Mr. Chung helped schools to set up Tee Ball teams. They used the sponge balls used by players indoors to avoid danger and started to promote the sport to various ages.

Uncle Chung emphasized, the goal of Tee Ball is to let kids play baseball in a happy and safe condition without scolding or criticizing, that is why the sport is also called Happy Ball. In the past ten years, Mr. Chung followed the “No scolding during the games, or prohibited for one inning.” policy. He said the beginners are not familiar with the game by nature; no one likes to be called a stupid or struck out. So, it is a taboo to scold teammates during Tee Ball games.

Under Uncle Chung’s hard work, there are more than 2000 schools participating in Tee Ball games. Conservatively speaking, the amount of people engaged in Tee Ball is no less than one million. Mr. Chung hopes to combine the strength of schools, communities, and social organizations to promote the Tee Ball and make it more and more popular.
