In the Second Quarterly of Million Walkers published by Hope Foundation, we were quite moved by an article written by Manager Wei, the manager of RT Mart. The authorization to publish this article has been given by Hope Foundation; hence we would like to share this article with everyone:

Some people say that the most beautiful people are those who are earnest. However, in my opinion, I think that the people who have the courage to stride or to sweat are more beautiful.

I can still recall the scene that Ms. Cheng Chi running on the stadium step by step. And the moment she crossed the line can always be remembered by every person in Taiwan or even people all over the world since she showed everyone her insistence and her tough spirit. Every single step, every drop of sweat, and every effort she has made are for reaching the aim ahead. And her aim is not only for the championship but also to let people all over the world hear the name of Taiwan. Her performance, her sweat, and her steps are the representatives of spirit of Taiwan and will be remembered forever.

Although I am not the tough guy on the stadium, I lead the 6000 employees of RT Mart to work hard everyday and to sweat for our customers not only for providing a great shopping environment to customers but also for improving the quality of service industry in Taiwan. I stride over all the warehouses in Taiwan everyday and I even spend my holidays on an inspection tour in our chain stores. I can hear customer’s voices and notice every detail through every single step. And I have realized that once every detail has been noticed, customers’ needs will be met.

Although I can deal with many official documents when sitting in an office, I can acquire more inspiration when stepping outside. The 6000 employees’ steps that they walk in our warehouses everyday can be more than the distance of 50 rounds around Taiwan. Our purposes may different from that of Ms. Cheng Chi, “walking 100,000 steps a day for the health of Taiwan,” but the same spirit is shared. Everyone in RT Mart walks for customers, walks for family, and walks for the economic development in Taiwan.

Consequently, RT Mart will definitely support Hope Foundation’s idea of “walking 100,000 steps a day for the health of Taiwan” to make Taiwan a place famous for walking exercise all over the world. In the year before last year, we offered step counters for member recruitment; in last year, we offered special gifts if customers buy step counters; this year, we will recruit the whole family members to participate in this walking activity. Little step counters will be offered for whole family participants.
